**The Role**

The objective of the role is to maximise VMO access to our Theatres, improve overall operating performance and consistency across the group.

This role will focus on 3 primary objectives:

- To identify, implement and scale a OneHealthscope approach to theatre scheduling, bookings, admissions and ensure key KPIs are reported and tracked across the Healthscope Group.
- Ensure unlocked capacity informs Business Development work plans regarding Clinical Service Profiles and link to budget & strategy.
- To embed a culture, skills, capabilities and framework for continuous improvement in the hospitals such that they can continue to improve outcomes after the project has concluded.

The project workplan is comprised of 5 theatre optimisation initiatives;
- Consolidation and holiday planning
- Growth by clinical stream
- Optimising business hours’ utilisation
- Optimising VMO session utilisation
- Optimise by case mix margin

**Reporting to the Program Manager, the Theatre Optimisation Project Lead role will encompass**:

- Understanding & communicating the drivers of efficient theatre management to contribute to the strategic, end-to-end holistic approach for the design and delivery of tools, practices and processes and systems that will support growth in Theatre utilisation.
- In consultation with the project team and key stakeholders;
- Embed and maintain a coordinated, consistent, streamlined and centralised process for review of theatre utilisation across the group ensuring a clear link is maintained to clinical service strategy and budgets
- Be a specialist resource, to provide training for POSMs and other key stakeholders on new activity and BAU reporting processes
- Continue to refine and expand on the theatre utilisation guiding principles.
- Engaging with the business through appropriate levels of change management to ensure processes, practices, tools and systems embedded and fully utilised for the long term.
- Key KPI development, reporting and communication
- Continuous consolidation of the one Healthscope foundation.
- Development of continuous improvement framework for use within Healthscope’s Operating Theatres
- Daily Processes Consistency & Improvement

**About You**

The successful applicant will be a dynamic and inclusive leader with the ability to manage in large, complex healthcare environments. The role requires the ability to lead strategic initiatives and to foster positive workforce culture whilst focussing on the relationship between key stakeholders.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Proven experience translating strategic priorities into operational reality; aligning communication, accountabilities, resource capabilities, internal processes, and ongoing measurement systems to ensure that strategic priorities yield measurable and sustainable results
- Has created and executed influence strategies that gain commitment to one’s ideas that persuade key stakeholders to take action that will advance shared interests and business goals
- Significant operational experience within a large, diverse, complex theatre environment with a unionised workforce
- Demonstrated track record in developing strong, productive and collaborative relationships at different leader levels
- Demonstrated experience ensuring that both operational effectiveness, staff experience and customer experience is a driving force behind business decisions, operational processes, practices and systems
- Proven ability to develop clearly aligned business cases and budgets and to track and measure value delivery across the program
