Program Overview
The Individual Placement and Support (IPS) program aims to provide vocational assistance to young people with mental illness, aged up to 25, who are at risk of long-term welfare dependency due to disengagement from employment and education.
This initiative utilizes the IPS model to enhance employment and education outcomes for these young individuals. The role involves supporting young people in gaining employment or engaging in education while navigating their mental health challenges.
About the Role
We seek a highly skilled Vocational Employment Specialist with lived experience of mental health challenges to support others. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with headspace staff to support young people in securing employment or education
- Providing a safe, inclusive, and professional environment to support young people
- Fostering effective rapport with young people to help them achieve their individual vocational goals
About You
To excel in this role, you will have:
- Experience supporting a friend or family member with mental health challenges
- Ability to utilize your lived experience aligned with mental health challenges to assist young people seeking work and study
- Employment experience in any sector (desirable)
- Knowledge of the Individual Placement and Support Program (desirable)
