Job Title: Category Expert

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially-minded and outcomes-driven professional to join our growing Home & Appliances team. As a Category Expert, you will be responsible for driving commercial growth, identifying opportunities for expansion, and managing daily category operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and develop new commercial opportunities, including sourcing and developing new products
  • Engage and source key suppliers, locally and internationally, to enhance our Exclusive Brands
  • Manage daily category operations, including planning, promotional activity, inventory management, shipping, and logistics to ensure revenue and profit targets are exceeded
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Maximise profitability of all products through a deep understanding of your category and the market
  • Drive innovation and continually develop your category to meet customer needs
  • Negotiate optimal trading terms and prices
  • Ensure timely introduction of new products, efficient management of current and future inventory, and timely fulfilment of customer demand
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to achieve your category's goals and KPIs, incorporating forward forecasting, planning promotional activity, and reacting to market conditions
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Promotions teams to ensure product listings are well merchandised and discoverable
Requirements:
  • University degree in a relevant field (Commerce, Business, Economics, or similar)
  • Experience in Category ownership, either Assistant or Junior Category Manager level, or supporting a Category Manager with exposure/ownership of a product range, ready to take on full category ownership
  • Background in eCommerce, Retail, or FMCG environment, preferably in Home & Living categories
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with the ability to make informed decisions for commercial success
  • Able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, being agile and adaptable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in VLOOKUP and pivot tables
