About the Role

Mergent Group is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead our building services design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of HVAC, electrical, and fire services projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Manage end-to-end aspects of design from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of designers, engineers, and drafters to ensure resources meet and exceed quality and time expectations.
  • Design Development: Create and manage building services designs across various services (HVAC, Electrical, Fire) to ensure a collaborative approach to desired project outcomes.
  • Client Consultation: Consult with clients to discuss their design needs and the effects the design will have on their business, including post-handover maintenance and increasing green star energy ratings.
  • Cost Management: Manage costs, variations, and proposals to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, drafting, accounts, estimating, and manage client expectations accordingly.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to safe work practices and quality assurance standards.

About You

  • Experience: Extensive building services design experience, with a proven track record of managing cross-functional services teams.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Australian and New Zealand codes and standards.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders both internally and externally with clients.
