About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Culturally Responsive Care Specialist to join our team in Darwin. In this rewarding role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in our residential Out of Home Care program.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing therapeutic support to young people, enhancing their lives through a trauma-informed approach. You will work closely with the CARE model to create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build professional relationships with children and young people, promoting trust and active engagement.
  • Act as an appropriate adult role model, encouraging participation in purposeful activities that develop life skills and self-worth.
  • SUPPORT family involvement, facilitating visits and promoting positive relationships.
  • Promote positive relationships among peers and other significant individuals.
  • Empower young people to participate in decision-making processes about their activities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of complex trauma, responding sensitively to pain-based behavior.
Requirements
  • Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Hold or be working towards a formal qualification in allied health, community services, or family support (Certificate IV or higher required).
  • Experience working with at-risk children or in Child Protection Family Services.
  • Valid Australian driver's license.
  • First Aid Certificate and CPR Certification.

Estimated Salary

$70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
