Job Opportunity

The role is designed to ensure timely and effective mental health assessment, treatment, and counselling for the effects of mental illness, significant psychosocial distress, and suicidality in Broken Hill and surrounding communities. The position aims to address ongoing social stressors in these areas, including isolation, drought, unemployment levels, substance misuse, and incarceration.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide evidence-based treatment techniques and assessment procedures to mental health consumers in a community setting.
  • To work effectively with multiple stakeholder groups, including people with lived experience of suicide and recovery.
  • To demonstrate understanding and commitment to the recovery model and patient-centred care.
  • To work in a cross-cultural environment, promoting mutual respect.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A recognised degree in psychology, social work, or occupational therapy, with eligibility for NSW Registration/Professional Association.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary adult mental health and/or drug and alcohol setting.
  • Excellent networking skills, with intermediate computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office.
