Specialist Mental Health Clinician

Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Clinician role available with NSW Health. A Permanent Full Time position based in Broken Hill, NSW is open for applications.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct specialist mental health and drug and alcohol assessments to inform care planning and case management services for individuals experiencing mental health and drug and alcohol problems.
- Provide expert assessment, case management and clinical intervention, consultation and liaison services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure families and carers are engaged in assessments, care plans and reviews to promote collaborative care.
- Support the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service by participating in outreach and leave relief activities as required.
- Develop cultural competence and commit to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal people through awareness and education.
The same key responsibilities mentioned above will be your focus as part of a supportive frontline specialist clinical team providing optimal patient experience.
Required Skills and Qualifications- A recognised degree or qualification in health or behavioural science such as Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Health Science is essential, along with eligibility for NSW registration or Professional Association membership where relevant. At least two years of clinical experience in mental health is also required.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary, as well as intermediate computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite.
- Evidence-based practice and critical thinking are required to advocate for individualised person-centred care.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team with service partners, carers and NGOs is essential.
- Respectful cross-cultural practice and commitment to ethical practice and the recovery model are highly valued.
- Participation in ongoing professional development and sharing expertise with colleagues is expected.
- A current driver's licence to drive in NSW is necessary.
