About the Role

This is a key position within the underground geology team at Evolution Mining, responsible for the design and execution of underground grade control diamond drilling activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising geological data collection, maintaining and updating underground grade control systems, and providing reliable technical information to mine planning teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and coordinate underground grade control diamond drilling activities to align with long-term mine plans and schedules.
  • Maintain and update underground grade control systems and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Supervise underground diamond drilling contractors and ensure they meet Evolution Mining's standards.
  • Monitor and validate underground sample quality control to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with core yard personnel to ensure timely processing of underground diamond drill core.
  • Assist with the generation and maintenance of grade control databases and block models.
  • Mentor and train junior geologists to ensure the delivery of high-quality work.
  • Contribute to medium to long-term improvement projects assigned by the Senior Mine Geologist.
About You

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team and interact with key stakeholders.

They will possess excellent problem-solving skills, self-discipline, and a commitment to continual improvement.

A tertiary degree in geology or geoscience, membership in a professional society, and previous experience in underground mine geology are essential requirements.

Proficiency in industry-standard databases and mine planning software, such as Deswik/Datamine and Leapfrog, is highly valued.
