About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Underground Geologist to contribute to the management and execution of daily underground grade control activities. Your duties will include:

  • Performing geological mapping of operating development and other development as instructed by the Senior Underground Geologist
  • Conducting daily stope and ROM inspections
  • Inspecting and marking UG Stockpile to improve ore and waste management
  • Assisting, managing, monitoring, and reconciling material movements from the underground mine daily
  • Communicating and collaborating with mining stakeholders to optimize ore extraction, minimize ore loss, and reduce ore dilution
  • Contributing to the ongoing maintenance of underground sample QAQC to a high standard
  • Performing geological logging of diamond drilling core as required or directed by the Senior Mine Geologist
  • Assisting Underground Project Geologists with the supervision of diamond drilling contractors with completion of daily drill rig inspections
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental procedures and policies
  • Delivering and supporting in achieving department and company goals

About You

In this role, you will have the opportunity to experience ongoing training at the highest standard working alongside a highly experienced team of geologists in an exciting and expanding mine site.

You will require the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in geology or geoscience
  • Previous exposure to mine or exploration geology functions highly regarded
  • Underground mining experience is in employment, or a vacation program is highly regarded
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and analyze various datasets
  • Capability to perform geological mapping in the underground environment
  • Ability to perform geological logging of diamond drill core
  • Aptitude for quick learning and embracing change in a dynamic environment
  • Understanding and compliance with requirements of environmental approvals and relevant environment, health, and safety legislation
  • Competent user of the Microsoft Office Suite
