Our Mission

  • To provide high-quality financial counselling and support to our clients, addressing gambling-related issues and promoting financial well-being.
  • To collaborate with other services across NSW to deliver face-to-face, telephone, and online counseling.
  • To advocate for our clients with financial institutions and support services.

What We Do

  • Deliver face-to-face, telephone, and online counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups impacted by addiction.
  • Provide debt management and financial education services to CALD clients.
  • Support GambleAware Providers in their work across NSW.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counseling and support: Provide expert financial counselling and support to culturally diverse communities, addressing gambling-related issues and promoting financial well-being.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other services across NSW to deliver face-to-face, telephone, and online counseling.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for clients with financial institutions and support services.

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Counselling, Psychology or Social work in addition to a diploma of Financial Counselling.
  • Current membership with FCAN.
  • Accreditation in financial counselling and registration with the responsible regulatory body (FCAN).
  • Demonstrated experience and theoretical knowledge of working as a financial counsellor, in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with clients in another language and/or with an interpreter and sensitivity to the needs of people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive computer skills including word processing and use of data bases.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.
