We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aboriginal Health Research Specialist to join our team at SAHMRI. The successful candidate will play an integral role in implementing and evaluating training programs for healthcare workers, working closely with the Aboriginal community and primary health care services.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the Program Lead in developing and implementing research activities, collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and coordination of research projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes and milestones are achieved.
- Lead the preparation of ethics applications, service agreements, reporting, and study documentation, as well as disseminating research outputs and outcomes.
- Embed Aboriginal governance into research through coordination and convening of the project Steering Committee.
- Contribute to paper preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals and communicate research findings to relevant committees and bodies.
The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Public Health, Health Services Research, Epidemiology, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in leading Aboriginal health research projects. Experience working with the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community is highly desirable.
A strong academic writing ability, knowledge of data management systems, and understanding of Australian and Indigenous-specific ethical requirements are essential.
Requirements:- PhD in Public Health, Health Services Research, Epidemiology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to research projects and leading Aboriginal health research projects.
- Experience working with the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community is highly desirable.
- Strong academic writing ability.
- Knowledge of systems and processes to support data management and accuracy in research.
This position offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 AUD per annum, depending on experience. Some out-of-hours work and travel may be required. A DCSI Employment Screening and Police Check may also be necessary.
