The Wardliparingga Aboriginal Health Equity Theme (AHE) at SAHMRI is a leading national unit dedicated to wellbeing and health equity among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia.

As a Healthcare Research Lead, you will be integral in generating high-quality evidence to inform recommendations that improve the standard of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in aged care facilities or the community.

About the Role

This position involves conducting and leading high-quality research in aged and healthcare services for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research with a focus on health, health services, and aged care services for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Contributing to collaborative research between AHE and ROSA, focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals in aged care settings.
  • Working independently and collaboratively with AHE, ROSA team, research partners, consumer representatives, staff, and stakeholders of the research project.
  • Liaising, coordinating, and supporting the ROSA team on new and existing ethics amendments required for the research.
  • Preparing papers for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, or a related discipline, as well as experience contributing to research projects relating to the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

A salary of $120,000-$150,000 per annum is offered, depending on experience.
