The role of After Hours Counsellor is a dynamic opportunity to provide support to carers who contact our service after hours. Our team delivers essential care to individuals caring for family and friends in various locations.
About the Opportunity
This part-time position works as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting carers experiencing sudden changes in their caring role. The purpose of this role is to provide therapeutic support, coping strategies, and safety planning to carers via phone during designated hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic support, coping strategies, and safety planning to carers contacting our service after hours by phone.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to support carers in distress.
- Record and share relevant information with appropriate supports; facilitate warm referrals or transfers to crisis services as needed.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
- Accreditation within an Australian professional association (e.g., ACA, PACFA, or AASW).
- Experience with clinical therapies, including Rogerian and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in a large organisation.
- Professional indemnity insurance as part of your professional bodies accreditation.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Current valid Driver's Licence and ability to travel.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working with Children's Check.
