About the Role

Hudson Australia is seeking a highly skilled Licensing Advisor to join our team on a short-term assignment. As a Licensing Advisor, you will be responsible for handling enquiries and licensing applications received by the team, referring them internally within the division or to other teams within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and resolve complex enquiries and licensing applications, providing sound advice on complex issues relevant to the Licensing function.
  • Assist Licensing Officers to progress and finalise enquiries and licensing applications based on the organisation's policies, procedures, guidelines, and relevant legislation.
  • Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to entity registrations, certification, professional indemnity insurance, and low-risk suitability assessments.
  • Prepare correspondence, memorandums, and reports on complex matters for internal and external stakeholders, with recommendations and options for decision.
  • Apply specialist knowledge of relevant policy, law, and legislative guidelines to the assessment of applications from entities of a licensing nature.
  • Ensure that information and documentation is maintained in information systems and databases in accordance with information management policies and procedures.
  • Gather and analyse data to identify risks and make recommendations about continuous improvement to processes.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Relevant experience in a licensing, government, or regulatory environment.
  • A well-developed understanding of the operation and regulation of legal practice and a high level of understanding of how to interpret and apply legislation and case law.
  • High-level communication and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to use those skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • A high level of computer literacy and ability to use information technology resources conscious of confidentiality and privacy.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching junior staff members.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in law will be highly regarded but not essential.
  • Previous experience working in a licensing, government, and/or regulatory environment.
