Advisor Industrial Relations Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advisor Industrial Relations to join our People Services team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing expert advice on industrial relations issues, advocating for the Department at the Industrial Relations Commission, and liaising with Union Industrial Officers.

Job Summary:

  • Provide strategic and operational advice on industrial relations matters
  • Represent the Department at the Industrial Relations Commission, preparing and filing relevant documents as required
  • Liaise with Union Industrial Officers to negotiate awards and policies, resolve disputes, and determine entitlements
  • Engage with industrial stakeholders to deliver accurate, relevant, and timely advice to support planning and decision-making

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable industrial and employment law, including experience in managing workplace complaints, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters
  • Experience in research and analysis to develop input to the identification, design, and development of industrial relations services
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Relations, Law majoring in Industrial and/or Employment, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills, enabling effective interpretation of complex industrial relations issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including external stakeholders such as union associations
