Family Practitioner Role

The Family Mental Health Support Service provides early intervention support to vulnerable families with children and young people aged 0-18 years who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of developing, mental illness.

We offer a range of services including one on one counselling for clients and their families in home, school or office settings.

Our team is committed to working in partnership with clients and their families in case planning, goal setting and the creation of a Family Action Plan.

What You Need To Bring
  • A degree in Social Work or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with vulnerable families with children and young people who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of developing, mental illness.
  • A valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check.
  • A valid driver's licence.
  • Availability and ability to work outside of standard hours when required.
Desirable Skills And Qualifications
  • Experience delivering therapeutic interventions including one on one and group work.
  • Experience in mental health promotion/education and community development activities.
  • Experience working in regional areas.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people.
  • Experience using Penelope client records management software.
  • Experience in the community services sector and/or not-for-profit sector.
