Job Title: Drill and Blast Supervisor

About the Role:
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to join our team as a Drill and Blast Supervisor. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring teams to drive performance outcomes in an open pit mining environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Effective utilisation of personnel and equipment to meet production plans and targets.
  • Communicate drill and blast requirements at pre-start meetings.
  • Coordinate work-crew responsibilities ensuring employees are aware of changes and are competent to carry out tasks.
  • Ensure all employees understand and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental working procedures.
  • Provide technical advice/ expertise on Drill and Blast operations and deliver training and guidance to personnel as required.
  • Carry out blast notifications and clearances.
  • Monitor shift performance to ensure drill and blast targets are met and take appropriate action to maintain targets.
  • Report any significant deviation from the drilling and blasting plans to the Project Manager in writing on the shift report.
  • Ensure the transport of blasting materials is in accordance with statutory regulations in a purpose designed vehicle.
  • Carry out accident/incident investigations as required.
  • Liaise with the Workshop Manager to plan scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Undertake scheduled audits and inspections of magazines and facilities.

Requirements:
You will need to have:
  • A demonstrated track record of fostering safety in the workplace.
  • Proven experience as a Drill & Blast Supervisor, leading and mentoring teams effectively to drive performance outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in open pit mining within a Nickel, Copper, Gold, Lithium or Iron ore background.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills allowing you to build relationships across the team and departments.
