As a vital link in the NSW Government's community-based appointment framework, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the humane treatment and living conditions of inmates in correctional facilities and youth justice centres.

About the Role

This position involves working closely with the Inspector of Custodial Services to monitor the conditions and treatment of inmates. You will be assigned to one custodial centre for up to four years to conduct regular visits and provide recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Resolve enquiries and complaints from inmates in a fair and impartial manner
  • Monitor the living conditions and treatment of inmates in custodial centres, reporting any concerns or issues to the relevant authorities
  • Conduct regular visits to assigned custodial centres, engaging with inmates and staff to gather information and insights
  • Provide written reports to the Inspector of Custodial Services, detailing your findings and recommendations for improvement
Requirements:
  • Strong report writing skills and computer literacy
  • Ability and willingness to travel for training and corporate activities
  • Access to the internet and email

Appointments are subject to reference checks and may also require National Criminal History Record Checks, Association disclosures, and Working with Children Check clearance.
