About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Finance Leader to join our team at the University of New South Wales. As a Senior Manager Financial Control, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and strengthening financial controls across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation and delivery of the University's Financial Control Framework, ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide expert advice on policies, guidelines, procedures, and reporting requirements, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Present and deliver actionable roadmaps and reports, highlighting improvement opportunities and key performance indicators.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships with senior leaders, finance teams, and stakeholders, promoting open communication and effective collaboration.
  • Liaise closely with the Finance System team and other Senior Finance Leaders to enhance process efficiency and key controls, leveraging technology and innovation.
  • Manage the UNSW Financial Control Framework reporting, including budget guidance, timeline management, and risk assessment.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification and Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Proven experience managing complex corporate finance functions in a large organisation, with a strong track record of delivering results-oriented solutions.
  • Significant senior management experience leading cross-functional projects, with excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of legislative and statutory reporting requirements, as well as policy interpretation and application.
  • Critical attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.
