Vertex Regional Finance Manager, ANZ Job Description

The Vertex International Finance Team plays a pivotal role in driving the company's mission of developing transformative medicines for people with serious diseases. As the Regional Finance Manager, ANZ, you will be an integral part of a dynamic organization that values collaboration and innovation.

This key leadership position requires a strategic thinker who can provide financial direction and insights to support local business functions. You will work closely with the ANZ Country Manager and other cross-functional teams to identify key value drivers and business KPIs. Your expertise will also contribute to the development of Vertex Australia's finance operations, including revenue and operating expense forecasting, accounting, and internal controls.

You will report directly to the Regional Finance Director based in Sydney, Australia, and be an active member of the North Europe, Australia & Distributors (NEAD) regional finance team.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead financial strategy and drive partnership with local business leads through strong strategic and operational finance and accounting support
  • Develop and manage the region's monthly financial revenue forecast, operating expenses, and financial reporting process
  • Analyse sales and external data to gain valuable insights on performance and future trends
  • Collaborate with local teams to set and control field incentive schemes
  • Support demand forecasts and partner with Supply Chain to optimize stock levels and improve forecast accuracy
  • Contribute to long-range planning and annual budgeting processes, actively managing corporate planning activities with various business leaders
  • Evaluate and enforce rigorous and transparent application of group policies and procedures throughout the region, reinforcing a robust internal control framework
  • Provide financial expertise to support dossier creation, pricing decisions, and reimbursement negotiations
  • Pursue global projects representing local needs
Required Experience and Skills
  • Relevant experience in professional services, accounting, or finance business partnering roles
  • Typically requires proven experience in a similar role or equivalent combined education
  • CA/CPA or equivalent qualification
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to navigate complex organizational structures and build effective working relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate insights into actionable analytic frameworks
  • Strong accounting knowledge with understanding of revenue recognition principles
  • Able to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and effective controls
  • Proven track record in managing multiple competing priorities and established communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and familiarity with financial planning and reporting systems (Hyperion, SAP BPC, OBIEE)

Estimated salary: AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
