Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative to join our team in a Local Government role. This is a temporary assignment with the opportunity to go permanent, offering a competitive hourly rate of $35-$37 + Super.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a culturally diverse and thriving local council that prides itself on delivering high-quality customer service and services to its residents, businesses, and partners. As a Front Counter Support Specialist, you will be responsible for processing transactions efficiently and effectively, answering incoming calls and chats, and providing advice on various Council policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake front counter duties, ensuring timely, accurate, and effective transaction processing.
  • Answer all incoming customer calls and chats in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, including follow-up and outbound communications as required.
  • Deal with enquiries, complaints, and requests for information or services, clarifying customer needs and responding appropriately.
  • Interpret Council policies and provide advice on Local Government matters, including town planning, building surveying, engineering, waste management, traffic control, rates and accounts receivable, law enforcement, and environmental health.
  • Accurately record customer requests in the CRM system.
Requirements
  • Computer literacy, demonstrating experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare short correspondence.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and independently.
  • Fluency in a second language is desirable.
