Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Liaison Specialist to provide expert support in the court environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with individuals with mental health issues and a strong understanding of the NSW Mental Health Legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To assist magistrates with diverting defendants who have or are suspected of having a mental illness, mental disorder or cognitive impairment from custody into suitable treatment options.
  • To conduct thorough evaluations and develop suggestions for magistrates to aid in diversion decisions.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A postgraduate qualification in mental health.
  • Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia or other relevant registration body.
  • Five years' experience working in an acute mental health setting, including three years' experience in a leadership or clinical specialist role.
