Key Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced professional to take on a pivotal training position within our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive classroom and workshop training programs to Heavy Vehicle Technician Apprentices and new Technicians.

Main Responsibilities
  • To coach and develop less experienced technicians and apprentices in troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds of Cummins Products.
  • To deliver Diesel Engine Fundamentals and Basic Diagnostic training to all apprentices across the region.
  • To participate in monthly Capability Trainer meetings and provide regular updates on progress against Heavy Vehicle Mechanical milestone training plan for the apprentices in their branch or region.
  • To maintain open lines of communication with Supervisors, Workshop Manager and Service Manager regarding training program delivery schedules.
  • To ensure apprentice safety by participating in extended pre-start meetings to guarantee their understanding of workplace hazards and risks.
  • To contribute to the annual Apprentice Onboarding Program.
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrated advanced level knowledge of and experience with Heavy Duty Engine products is necessary.
  • Prior experience providing technical advice and coaching to apprentices/technicians is preferred.
  • Able to possess or work towards achieving Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Minimum 4 years post-trade apprenticeship completion is preferred.
  • Candidates must be based in Brisbane and willing to travel across the region as required.
Preferred Qualifications

Education :

  • Apprentice-trained engine technician or vocational diploma in a relevant technical field is highly desirable.
  • Certification in engine systems or mechanical/electrical diagnostics is advantageous.
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is preferred or a willingness to pursue this certification.

Experience :

  • Demonstrated advanced level knowledge and experience with engine products, including both mechanical and electronic systems, is essential.
  • At least 2 years post-apprenticeship experience working with engine diagnostics and repairs, preferably in a workshop or service environment.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring less experienced technicians or apprentices is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with diagnostic equipment, mechanical tools, and electronic service tools.
  • Able to maintain and repair engine systems efficiently, following standard procedures to ensure quality and safety.

Certifications :

  • Apprentice-trained Engine Technician or equivalent.
  • Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution is preferred.
  • Locally valid drivers permit (preferred).

Compliance Licensing: This role may require additional licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Additional Information
  • Location: Brisbane, Australia (with up to 25% travel required per year)
  • Reports to: Training Manager APAC with a dotted line to the regional Service Manager.
  • Salary & Benefits: This position is paid fortnightly (wage), with overtime opportunities available.
