Indigenous Liaison Officer

The role of Indigenous Liaison Officer plays a vital part in promoting organisational cultural capability and connection to the Indigenous community. This new position will assist Council to support local Indigenous communities in preserving and celebrating their cultures through collaboration and engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Utilising kinship and connection to the community, engage with local people to protect and celebrate the history of Indigenous culture.
- Lead initiatives to embed culture and meet Closing the Gap targets.
- Develop impactful policies and build partnerships with Indigenous communities.
- Deliver projects and reports on employment, procurement, and cultural inclusion.
This role will be a key driver of the Mara Ngali Agreement and the Council's Closing the Gap strategy. It offers a meaningful opportunity to shape policy and strategy that positively impacts local Indigenous communities.
Requirements- Applicants must identify as being of Indigenous descent through parentage or be accepted in the community as such.
- A degree in Social Policy, Community Development, Social Sciences, Community Services, or relevant equivalent experience is required.
- A valid Driver Licence and Working With Children's Check (WWCC) are also necessary.
