Medical Laboratory Support Role

Our expansive network of medical laboratories and patient collection centres operates across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia, providing 1 in every 3 pathology services in the country.

Job OverviewKey Responsibilities:
  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens; including operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Pre and post analytical specimen handling and preparation for testing
  • Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens to ensure timely results
  • Filing and storage of specimens and accurate data entry
  • Collaboration with scientists and laboratory staff as required
  • Continuous learning and development of skills in specimen processing and laboratory procedures
  • Adhering to established protocols and guidelines for laboratory operations
  • Effective communication and response to result, sample requirements and general queries
  • Proactive identification and resolution of problems at the pre-analytic stage
Requirements
  • Experience in specimen processing and data entry
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Independence and self-motivation with minimal supervision
  • Understanding of the importance of adhering to standard operating procedures and protocols
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in laboratory techniques and medical terminology
  • Desirable: Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection
