Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Assistant to join our team of passionate professionals.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens, including operation and maintenance of analyzers
  • Pre- and post-analytical specimen handling
  • Identification and prioritization of urgent specimens
  • Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
  • Assisting Scientists in the Laboratory as required
  • Continuous learning of processing requirements for different sample types
  • Staying up-to-date with processing updates
  • Responding to results, sample requirements, and general queries
  • Identifying and resolving problems at the pre-analytic stage

About the Role:

  • You should have experience in specimen processing and data entry
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Understanding of the importance of following procedures accurately
  • Willingness to adhere to policies and procedures
  • Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology (desirable but not essential)
  • Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection (desirable)
