Primary objective

Under the direction of the Faculty Senior and Senior Operations Manager, provide comprehensive and efficient services in

technical and administrative support for the IT/Language/Business Faculty and/or Science Faculty.

Context statement

Darwin High School is a large urban senior secondary school (Years in the Northern Territory and has a large student

cohort of approximately 1300 students. The school has a reputation for academic excellence and is an Independent Public

School. Strategic oversight of the school is provided via the School Board.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Administration and technical assistance to classes within the faculty involving the preparation of secondary school

practical activities such as design manufacturing, woodwork, metalwork, robotics, innovation, and 3D printing.

2. Order and maintain stocks of relevant equipment and consumables for use in the electronics, robotics and fabrication

lab, and classes.

3. Be responsible for safe storage, obtaining quotes and ordering of equipment according to work health and safety

guidelines.

4. Maintain equipment to required standards.

5. Maintain an electronic data system of equipment for borrowing, maintenance, and stock take purposes.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to provide technical and administrative support and assistance to teaching staff and students in the

areas of information technology, design technology, robotics and electronics rooms, woodwork, metalwork. records and

systems maintenance, running of the Fab Lab and/or science.

  1. Demonstrate ability to learn and use associated software relevant to equipment in use.
  2. Demonstrated appropriate interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, which have resulted in effective team

membership as well as the ability to work independently.

4. Awareness and knowledge of workshop and laboratory safe working practices and regulations and the ability to analyse

and critically evaluate workspaces to ensure efficiencies and safety, which result in organised workspaces.
