Child Youth and Family Mental Health Specialist

 

The Safeguards Team provides medical leadership to a senior team delivering innovative, collaborative, and best-practice time-limited care to children and young people aged 0-17 experiencing acute mental distress. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a valuable impact in the community.

Key responsibilities include providing medical leadership, building partnerships with other healthcare services, participating in ongoing evaluation and development of the model of care, and collaborating with the Clinical Lead to ensure seamless provision of care for the population.

The Safeguards Team is part of the well-established interdisciplinary Child Youth and Family Mental Health stream. The team includes the Child and Youth Mental Health Teams, Whole Family Team, Perinatal Infant Mental Health Team, and Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit. Successful applicants will participate in a District-wide CYF-MH Consultant after-hours roster.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent as provided by the Health Insurance Act 1997
  • Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in providing effective, high-quality mental health services in a psychiatry setting

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Experience working with interprofessional contexts, including lived-experience professionals
  • Sound knowledge of psychiatry encompassing biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual domains
