Child and Youth Mental Health Specialist

Job Overview:

As a Child and Youth Mental Health Specialist, you will provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children, young people, and families in the community. This role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with clients and interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients in a complex child and youth mental health setting.
  • Family Support: Work therapeutically with families to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people.
  • Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Contribute to an interdisciplinary team providing high-quality care to clients.
  • Treatment Plans: Develop and implement treatment plans that address the needs of clients.
  • Research Participation: Participate in research projects to evaluate and develop practice.

Requirements:

  • A recognised tertiary qualification in psychology or occupational therapy, with current registration with AHPRA, or social work and eligibility for membership of AASW.
  • Demonstrated skills to apply professional knowledge and skills in a complex child and youth mental health setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
