Job Title: Community Support Specialist

Anglicare is seeking a dedicated Community Support Specialist to join our team and contribute to the Commonwealth Psychosocial Support (CPS) Program. This program provides free nonclinical, community-based supports aimed at facilitating and maintaining recovery for people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness.

As a Community Support Specialist, you will offer one-on-one and group support to assist recovery, build skills for independent living, and help participants contribute to their communities. This position is a Maximum Term (2 yrs) Part Time (3 days a week) role located in Tamworth. You will be required to travel across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting people with a mental health issue to access the community
  • Providing case co-ordination for individuals
  • Establishing positive relationships with clients, staff, and other organisations
  • Promoting Anglicare's services in a positive manner
  • Auditing client safety, planning, and intervening where appropriate, by ensuring the well-being of the client

Requirements:

• Tertiary education, Cert 3 or above in social work, psychology/community services/mental health

• NSW Drivers licence

• Knowledge of mental health issues and the impacts it has on a person's life

• Skills in establishing rapport, respectfully communicating expectations and being assertive

• Experience relating to and building rapport with people

• Knowledge of child protection system and knowledge of NDIS is an advantage

• Excellent observation, written and verbal communication skills
