Geotechnical Engineer Role

This is a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer position at our flagship KOTH gold mine, focusing on geotechnical data collection, analysis, and reporting within a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the guidance of Senior Engineers to develop understanding of ground stability procedures, ground monitoring/control, and mine infrastructure (underground and open pit).
  • Conduct various underground and open pit geotechnical field work tasks such as core logging, sample collection, Q/Q'-mapping, and wall mapping.
  • Collect and analyze geotechnical data for ground support and stope design criteria.
  • Document rock mass behavior, implementing quality control and assurance measures.
  • Communicate promptly regarding Rock Noise reports and ensure timely documentation.
  • Architecturally maintain all geotechnical-related data and information for accessibility.
  • Perform Monthly Ground Support Audits, provide recommendations, and issue additional support plans and defect notices as necessary.
  • Develop numerical models for underground workings to support mining activities.
  • Assess key pillar stability in the mine, guided by Senior Engineers.
  • Train underground crews on ground support importance and understanding ground conditions.
  • Provide geotechnical data and information for End of Month Reports.
About You

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Science with Geotechnical specialization.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in both underground and open-pit projects as a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer.
  • Understanding of Western Australian Mining Act and Regulations, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn and use relevant mining software packages.
  • Current WA Driver's License (manual C Class).
