Graduate Geotechnical Engineer role at Vault Minerals' flagship KOTH gold mine, focusing on geotechnical data collection, analysis, and reporting within a structured learning environment.Your roleResponsibilitiesWork under the guidance and instruction of the Senior Geotechnical Engineer.Develop understanding of procedures related to ground stability, ground monitoring/control, and mine infrastructure (underground and open pit).
Undertake a variety of underground and open pit geotechnical field work tasks, such as core logging, sample collection and preparation, Q/Q'-mapping, and wall mapping (Open Pit).
Conduct geotechnical data collection and analysis for ground support and stope design criteria.Document the behaviour of rock masses, along with quality control and quality assurance measures.Follow up on Rock Noise reports and communicate promptly.Ensure all geotechnical-related data and information are methodically archived and stored for accessibility.Conduct Monthly Ground Support Audits and provide methods for addressing key concerns, including issuing additional support plans and defect notices.Contribute to developing a numerical model for underground workings to support mining activities.Measure and visually assess the stability of key pillars in the mine, guided by the Senior Geotechnical Engineer.Assist the Senior Geotechnical Engineer in training underground crews on the importance of ground support and understanding ground conditions.Provide geotechnical data and information for End of Month (EOM) Reports (underground and open pit).
Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team comprising geotechnical engineers, mining engineers, geologists, environmental engineers, contractors, and consultants.About youQualificationsBachelor of Engineering or Science with a Geotechnical specialisation.Minimum of 1 year experience in both underground and open-pit projects as a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer.Develop understanding of the statutory requirements of the Western Australian Mining Act and Regulations, and the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.Ability to learn and use mining software packages and tools, including Deswik, Leapfrog, AcQuire, GEM4D, and Rocscience software (Unwedge, DIPS, RS3, and Slide2).
Current WA Driver's License (manual C Class).
