Job Title: Research Associate - Sexual and Reproductive Health Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a research project focused on sexual and reproductive health in vulnerable populations. As a Research Associate, you will support a team of investigators to undertake a sexual and reproductive health needs assessment of temporary migrants to Australia.

About the Role:
  • You will work closely with researchers and stakeholders to conduct qualitative interviews and focus group discussions among PALM workers, employers, and health workers.
  • Additionally, you will assist with promoting quantitative surveys, ensuring that data collection is conducted in a culturally safe and sensitive manner.
  • As part of your responsibilities, you will travel to study sites across NSW to conduct participant interviews, identifying any acute health concerns or distress among participants and arranging timely referral and clinical assessment via designated pathways.
  • You will also analyse the data using suitable qualitative software in liaison with the investigator team and contribute to drafting project reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Moreover, you will help project investigators prepare presentation of findings to the NSW Ministry of Health and other stakeholders where applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct qualitative interviews and focus group discussions with PALM workers, employers, and health workers.
  1. Assist with promoting quantitative surveys and ensure cultural sensitivity.
  1. Travel to study sites across NSW for participant interviews and referrals.
  1. Analyse data using qualitative software in liaison with the investigator team.
  1. Contribute to drafting project reports and manuscripts for publication.
  1. Help project investigators prepare presentations of findings.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • PhD in infectious diseases, sexual and reproductive health, public health, or related field.
  • Sound experience in qualitative research methods, including framework analysis.
  • Pasifika background and/or experience conducting qualitative research with Pacific Island communities highly desirable.
  • Good knowledge of academic research integrity and ethics; current Good Clinical Practice certification desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Peer-reviewed scientific publications, including qualitative research.
  • Organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
