Job Opportunity

The University of Sydney is seeking a Research Associate to support a team of investigators in undertaking a sexual and reproductive health needs assessment of temporary migrants to Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Research Associate (Level A) at the Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute, conducting research that has a direct impact on public health policy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with researchers and stakeholders to identify and recruit study participants
  • Conduct qualitative interviews and assist with promoting quantitative surveys with PALM workers and other stakeholders, ensuring culturally safe and sensitive data collection
  • Analyse data using suitable qualitative software in liaison with the investigator team
  • Contribute to drafting project reports and manuscripts for publication
  • Support project investigators in preparing presentation of findings to the NSW Ministry of Health and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals
Requirements:
  • PhD in infectious diseases/sexual and reproductive health/public health or related field desirable
  • Sound experience in qualitative research methods, including framework analysis
  • Pasifika background and/or experience conducting qualitative research with Pacific Island communities highly desirable
  • Solid knowledge of academic research integrity and ethics; current Good Clinical Practice certification desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Peer-reviewed scientific publications, including qualitative research
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
