About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Officer to join our team in the Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the Government's aviation reform agenda, as outlined in the recently released Aviation White Paper.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of legislative proposals and regulatory frameworks for the aviation sector;
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including government agencies, airports, airlines, and industry bodies, to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Provide policy advice and support to senior officials on aviation-related matters;
  • Assist in the management of legislative projects, including drafting instructions and reviewing draft legislation;
  • Contribute to the development of policy briefs, reports, and other written materials;
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, airports, airlines, and industry bodies, to promote the department's policies and programs;
  • Support the development of the department's policy and regulatory frameworks for the aviation sector.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience in legislative and regulatory policy development, including experience in working with government agencies and industry stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex policy and regulatory issues;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines;
  • Strong understanding of the aviation sector and its regulatory frameworks;
  • Ability to provide policy advice and support to senior officials on aviation-related matters;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex policy and regulatory issues.
