The Australian Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy and Program Officer to join the Early Learning Programs and Youth Division at the Department of Education. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic priority area of Government, ensuring quality early childhood education and care (ECEC), and leading national policy reform alongside State and Territory Governments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development
    • Prepare briefing papers, policy or program advice, standard operating procedures, project reports, ministerial correspondence and discussion papers for presentation to a range of audiences.
  • Program Delivery
    • Liaise with other sections, external agencies and external stakeholders and facilitate cross-agency or multi-agency planning of program delivery.
  • Research and Analysis
    • Perform research and analysis tasks (including data) to inform complex policy and regulatory development, including identifying issues and potential solutions.
  • Grant Management
    • Undertake activities to support effective and compliant grant development, delivery, reporting and management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders including State and Territory Governments.
  • Governance
    • Undertake governance activities, including contract management, project management and reporting.
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and support junior staff members to perform diverse tasks.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Australian Citizen or in the process of obtaining it.
  • Security Clearance: Baseline security clearance.
