
Healthcare Research Specialist

Are you passionate about supporting the health and well-being of children and their families? We are seeking a skilled Research Assistant to join our Community Paediatrics Research Group. As a Research Assistant, you will play a key role in undertaking screening, recruitment, consent, and enrolment of participants at our NSW Health study sites.
Your responsibilities will include data collection, data analysis, entering data into databases, maintaining tracking documentation, ensuring data quality and accuracy, communicating sensitive information and participant data to team members, assisting with preparing and submitting ethics applications, coordinating with the team to produce quality reports, verifying data accuracy within university systems, actively engaging in compliance initiatives to uphold regulations, attending research meetings and training sessions, and taking minutes.
- Screening of potential participants, recruitment, consent, and enrolment at NSW Health study sites.
- Support data collection (quantitative and qualitative) and data analysis.
- Enter data into databases, maintain tracking documentation, ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Confidently communicate sensitive information and participant data to team members.
- Assist with preparing and submitting ethics applications.
- Coordinate with the team to produce quality reports, verify data accuracy within university systems, and actively engage in compliance initiatives.
- Attend research meetings and training sessions, take minutes, and undertake other duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will require an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as Health, Allied Health, Psychology, or another related discipline, accompanied by subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
You will also need knowledge, experience, and understanding of the health and social care needs of priority populations, including people with lived experience of neurodisability. Experience working with and/or supporting people with chronic and complex health conditions, including people with lived experience of neurodisability, is preferred.
Additional requirements include knowledge of research protocols, experimental design, and planning involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones, experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including REDCap, NVivo, and Excel, demonstrated superior interpersonal communication skills, excellent time management skills, and ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training are also essential.
