Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology

As a highly skilled and experienced healthcare professional, you will be responsible for providing clinical management and intervention for gastroenterology patients across the facility. You will work closely with General Medicine Physicians within the Department of General Medicine and complement our vibrant Gastroenterology team.

">Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform clinical services for inpatients admitted under the Gastroenterology Service and participate in the bed allocation process.
  • Provide specialist consultation within your field, including provision of outpatient services.
  • Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues by ensuring a high standard of patient care which conforms to best practice and is evidence based.
Requirements
  • Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), with recognised qualifications in Gastroenterology and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.
  • Demonstrated current gastroenterology (including endoscopy) clinical practice of a high standard, with ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
  • Demonstrated capacity for clinical leadership, a commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in medicine, nursing and allied health and willingness to participate in clinical research.
  • Understanding of the principles of clinical governance to promote quality and safety in health care, with experience in and commitment to evidence based best practice.
  • A demonstrated understanding of transfer of care and patient flow principles and ability to practice these principles to meet the needs of the community and hospital.
  • Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and proficiently in periods of high demand/activity.
