Job Description

We are seeking an experienced business development professional to drive industry growth and client engagement. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to unlock profitable opportunities for our business and clients.

You will work closely with the industry leadership team and CMG team to connect stakeholders across the business and demonstrate leadership and direction. As a subject matter expert, you will have in-depth knowledge of the industry, including key matters, stakeholders, influencers, competitor landscape, client footprint, and market position.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing and executing industry strategic plans in alignment with firm strategy.
  2. Collaborating with the industry leadership team and CMG team to connect stakeholders and demonstrate leadership.
  3. Serving as a subject matter expert on the industry, including providing insights and advice to partners and lawyers.
  4. Coaching partners and lawyers on strategic business development advice.
  5. Leading pitches and collaborating with Client Market Growth Business Unit colleagues to apply industry insights to bids.
  6. Diving client conversations to ensure client intelligence is maintained, relationships are nurtured, and service excellence is upheld.
  7. Identifying opportunities across business units and priority areas, clients, and geographies, and supporting the formation of cross-business unit teams to pursue opportunities.
  8. Qualifying and developing high-quality client-facing materials and precedents with compelling value propositions.
  9. Collaborating with the brand/marketing team to validate, design, and deliver client and market engagement strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, business, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years' experience in business development or equivalent work experience, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Proven ability in strategic planning and client account management to deliver commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and adaptable approach, nurturing relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the business.
  • Ability to manage competing and high-profile tasks in a fast-paced environment working within tight timeframes.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Commercially focused approach with strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Leadership mindset - be a team-player, working with, mentoring, and connecting with people at all levels, particularly within CMG.
