Role Overview

Everyday Independence is seeking a highly skilled Developmental Educator to join our team in Regional Victoria. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with participants and their support networks to develop new skills and habits, and help them overcome barriers that prevent them from engaging with their local community and the wider world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments using our LEAD evidence-based assessment tool to identify participant needs and develop person-centered support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide wrap-around support to participants and their families, including capacity building of support teams and provision of therapy and other interventions as needed.
  • Support participants in their everyday environments, including home, work, school, or community settings, to help them achieve their goals and increase their independence.
  • Participate in peer group supervision and mentoring, and engage in ongoing professional learning to develop your expertise and skills as a Developmental Educator.
  • Contribute to the development of effective and strong working relationships with participants and their families, identifying and addressing factors that may affect relationships, and repairing breakdowns in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Hold a Bachelor or Masters of Disability (or equivalent) and be eligible to be a member of the DEAI (Membership required upon commencement).
  • Be passionate about removing barriers using the social model of therapy and have a strong advocacy for inclusion and accessibility.
  • Have empathy and understanding, and be open and non-judgmental in your approach to working with participants and their families.
  • Be driven to see high-impact outcomes in people's lives and be committed to delivering high-quality services that make a positive difference.
  • Be able to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check, and hold a valid driver's license.
