About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Developmental Educator to join our interdisciplinary team at Everyday Independence. As a Developmental Educator, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered support and planning for individuals with disabilities, their families, and support teams.
  • Work alongside participants and their key supports to develop new skills and habits, and problem-solve challenges that prevent them from living fulfilled lives.
  • Champion the role of a social model practitioner by helping individuals overcome barriers that keep them from engaging with their local community and the wider world.
  • Use evidence-based practice and professional reasoning to recommend the most appropriate team of supports, therapy, duration, location, and timing.
  • Develop effective and strong working relationships with individuals and their families, identifying and addressing factors that may affect relationships, and repairing breakdowns in a timely manner.

Requirements
  • Hold a Bachelor or Masters of Disability (or equivalent) and be eligible to be a member of the DEAI (Membership required upon commencement).
  • Be passionate professionals with a strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy.
  • Show empathy and understanding, while being open and non-judgmental.
  • Be driven to see high-impact outcomes in people's lives.
  • Be able to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check & Working with Children's Check.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
