
Chief Compliance Officer

Our organisation is seeking a dynamic professional to establish a new compliance and enforcement function within our Regulatory Services Group. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to make a significant impact on our community.
The successful candidate will lead complex cross-group compliance efforts, ensuring strategic alignment, consistency, and effective progression of enforcement activities. They will also act as the primary permit authority for the organisation.
- Coordinating and reviewing the conduct of investigations into complex compliance matters.
- Establishing and managing regulatory structures and strategic objectives.
- Working closely with courts and tribunals to ensure compliance is upheld.
- Managing budgets and allocating resources effectively.
- Building strong relationships within the council and the community.
- Balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on involvement where needed.
To qualify for this role, you will need:
- A Diploma or Degree level qualification in regulatory services, compliance or a related discipline.
- Relevant leadership experience in a compliance or regulatory role.
- A minimum of 5 years of regulatory experience.
- A Tasmanian driver's licence.
- A Working With Vulnerable People Check.
In addition, you will possess:
- Proven people management skills, with the ability to mentor and coach others.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to set strategic objectives and guide others towards achieving them.
- Experience in working within or alongside local government and regulatory bodies.
- Capability to determine when to escalate issues and when to address them independently.
