Job Overview

The Queensland Early Childhood Regulatory Authority is responsible for regulating the early childhood education and care sector.

Our Child Safeguarding team plays a crucial role in ensuring the safeguarding of children against sexual abuse and misconduct in education and care services across Queensland.

The team carries a high volume of high-risk work, in a very responsive environment, with often pressing deadlines.

To meet performance objectives, the team must work together to concurrently progress project and case work, in a timely and sensitive manner.

This makes the role of the Regulatory Support Officer, providing critical support, essential to the team's success.

The Role
  • The Regulatory Support Officer will assist the leadership staff with administrative duties related to targeted response work, including:
  1. Queensland's contribution to the national response to the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority's Child Safety Review
  2. Queensland's ongoing response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
  3. Queensland's implementation of the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme

The Regulatory Support Officer will also provide day-to-day support to regulatory staff by:

  1. Assisting in preparing correspondence, including acknowledgement letters, requests for information, and invitations to interview
  2. Assisting with responses to external requests for information, including freedom of information requests, media requests, and Ministerial requests
  3. Assisting in preparing investigation documentation, including run sheets, evidence lists, and interview summaries
  4. Registering incoming referrals to the team, and liaising with regional regulatory staff around preliminary inquiries
  5. Escalating incoming matters to the Manager, Child Safeguarding as necessary
  6. Maintaining accurate records and monitoring the progress of team action items
  7. Managing data entry and producing reports from that data
  8. Coordinating appointments, meetings, travel, and receiving visitors

The role is based in Brisbane city and reports to the Director, Child Safeguarding.

Key Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess excellent administrative skills, including strong communication and organizational abilities.

They will also have the ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

Experience working in a similar role or industry would be highly regarded.
