Job Summary

The MacDonnell Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled Governance Administration Officer to provide secretariat and administrative support to Local Authority and Council meetings. This is a unique opportunity to have a genuine influence in helping the Council improve the lives of our residents and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Local Authority and Council meetings, ensuring compliance with the NT Local Government Act and Guidelines.
  • Assist in community engagement activities with Local Authority members and Councillors.
  • Review and develop governance processes and procedures.
  • Develop visual information sheets and governance operational manuals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Follow predetermined procedures and make independent judgements as required.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in an administration environment or government role.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow predetermined procedures and make independent judgements as required.
  • Understanding and awareness of cultural impacts and sensitivities, particularly in a region with a high Aboriginal population.
