About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Australia and New Zealand. As a key member of our financial team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our financial accounts and providing timely reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of annual financial reports for Australian and New Zealand statutory and legal requirements, as well as Unilever Global Financial Group and other regulatory authorities such as ASIC and ABS.
  • Maintenance of IFRS 16 Lease Accounting and lease contract management on a monthly basis.
  • Annual Impairment review compliance under IFRS 36.
  • Independent review of company balance sheet to ensure its accuracy and completeness.
  • Management of the Standard Chart of Accounts (SCOA) to ensure full compliance with both reporting and transaction systems.
  • Control of the General Ledger, including setup and maintenance of accounting modules and structures.
  • Continual review and improvement of the balance sheet reconciliation process to ensure reconciliations are complete and accounting is in line with Unilever policy as well as AIFRS and NZIFRS.
  • Educating financial and non-financial users/budget holders in the business on SCOA as required.
  • Liaising with the Financial Shared Services team for completion of quarterly Financial Reporting Package in line with Unilever Accounting policies.
  • Implementation of financial projects in conjunction with Treasury, Tax and Management Reporting departments.
  • Improvement of the financial reporting process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Creat[ing] awareness among employees about financial accounting issues.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in reporting requirements via changes in Unilever policy (International Standards), local Accounting Standards and other regulatory changes.
  • Liaising with external auditors and assisting in providing information.
  • Implementing ad hoc projects as required, examples of past projects include acquisition/integration/disposal of business, liquidation of dormant companies.
  • Assisting the outsourced financial shared services Record to Report team.
