Senior Financial Planning Accountant

The Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) is a purpose-driven organisation dedicated to delivering world-class care. We are seeking an experienced Financial Planning Accountant to join our growing finance team.
About the OpportunityWe are looking for a skilled professional with a strong background in financial planning and accounting. As a Financial Planning Accountant, you will play a key part in maintaining transparency of financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting and legal regulations, and preparing accurate financial statements.
The role involves performing month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, tax returns, P&L reviews, accruals, and month-end reports. You will also be responsible for gathering and monitoring financial data, analysing financial trends, and facilitating accurate reporting for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, internal management reports, and cash flow statements.
- Cash Flow Management: Conduct weekly cash flow reporting to support effective financial planning.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare GST, FBT, Payroll, and Corporate Income Tax returns.
- Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial policies, regulations, and accounting standards, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a Financial Planning or Accounting role, preferably in a Chartered Accounting firm.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software, with strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Solid technical knowledge of tax and accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Process-driven and detail-oriented with a strong focus on meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional organisational and time-management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
