Community Recreation Specialist

We are seeking a motivated and caring Support Worker to join our team at the Active Monash Leisure Centres. As a Community Recreation Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing assistance to service users with disabilities and older adults in a community recreation setting.

About the Position

The successful candidate will provide personal care tasks and mobility/transfers to support the safe participation of service users in recreational activities. You will also assist in ensuring that all staff are well-versed in the ASI program responsibilities to maintain high-quality service delivery and safety standards.

About You
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people with disabilities and older adults in a community/recreational setting.
  • Ability to deliver inclusive recreation programs that cater to diverse needs and abilities.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and effective communication techniques.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a team and autonomously as required.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with staff, service users, carers, and families.
  • CPR certification and Working With Children's Check.
  • Safeguarding Children Certificate is highly desirable.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in an attendant support role in disability services or recreation services.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in the leisure industry.
  • Desire to provide inclusive recreation programs to service users and their families.
  • CPR certificate and Employee Working With Children's Check.
  • Safeguarding Children Certificate.
