About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Vegetation Management Support Officer to join our team at the Country Fire Authority (CFA). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the District Vegetation Management Officer in achieving fuel management goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate resources for planned burns, ensuring timely and effective delivery of fuel management activities.
  • Collaborate with CFA staff, brigades, and the Vegetation Management Officer to plan and execute planned burning activities.
  • Liaise with Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) to facilitate resource allocation and maintain effective communication.
  • Support fuel management training by coordinating information collection with CFA and FFMVic Instructors.
  • Promote CFA involvement in cross-tenure, strategic roadside, and community-led planned burning initiatives.
  • Collect and maintain reporting data for planned burning and other treatment works in the region.
Requirements
  • Ability to develop a sound understanding of Planned Burning resource requirements.
  • Skilled in planning and coordinating the movement of resources, using knowledge of District Brigade networks, membership, and travel times.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to forge and maintain productive inter-agency relationships.
  • Working knowledge of IT, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, and ability to maintain database programs.
