Job Title

Behaviour Support Practitioner in Immigration Detention Facilities

About the Role

This role provides Behaviour Support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and other complex diagnosis within an Immigration Detention Facility. The incumbent will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide positive behaviour support services, conduct comprehensive assessments, and develop individualised support plans.

  • Conduct functional behaviour assessments and design function-based behaviour support plans.
  • Provide professional information and advice to detainees with complex needs, staff, and other relevant stakeholders within the facility.
  • Support complex case and critical incident reviews, and provide support to site-based personnel to identify and support detainees at risk.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in psychology, counselling, social science or other related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years (full-time equivalent) experience working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner and providing positive behaviour support.
  • Experience using evidence-based interventions/strategies and person-centred approach in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
  • Working with Children Check relevant to individual state.
  • National police check (AFP).
  • Current Driver's Licence.
