Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Farm Manager will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the farm, working closely with the Farm Manager to ensure the successful operation of the farm. This includes contributing to operational management, employee and contractor management, leadership, and Workplace Health and Safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Farm Manager in the day-to-day management of the farm, including operational management, employee and contractor management, and leadership.
  • Work closely with the farm manager, independent agronomy team, and precision ag team to monitor and manage crops to reach their full potential.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve farm performance, including crop management, soil health, and water management.
  • Operate and maintain farm equipment, including spraying, planting, spreading, and harvesting.
  • Collaborate with the farm manager to develop and implement plans to improve farm safety, including risk assessments and safety protocols.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and contractors to ensure they are working safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute to the development of the farm's people and culture, aligning with the company's values.

Requirements:

  • Broadacre cropping experience.
  • Sound knowledge of growing dryland winter crops.
  • Experience in the operation of large-scale cropping plant and equipment.
  • Ability to learn, adopt new practices, and further develop personal skills while working in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with consulting agronomists and contractors.
  • Relevant qualifications will be looked upon favorably but are not a must.
